so, vegas was a success! well, not monetarily, but whatever. there’s a good summary at debra’s. from my point of view, there was plenty of gambling and an acceptable amount of drinking. nothing like the old days when we’d almost get kicked out of a joint . . . actually, i’d say the drinking was pretty tame. also, aside from the pleasant surprise at little buddha, the food was ok. bouchon was a huge dissappointment for me. the service was horrible and the steak i ordered medium rare came well done. not that i’m a stickler for these things at normal restaurants, but when you have the thomas keller name attached to a restaurant, you expect something special. and, unfortuantley, our attempt to eat at the nine was all in vain.
food aside, it was great seeing dave and lydia again. it’s been far too long compared to what i’m use to. we’ll see what i can do about a late october visit to nyc.
