Last Day of School

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

Went to spend time with the kiddies for the last time this year. The plan was to go to the park today with all the other second grade classes.

We met up at the classroom where Tina and I were presented with nice certificates and a book of thank you notes from the kids. That was nice. Before we headed out to the park, Ms. Eggleston went around the room asking the kids what they remembered about the times we visited.

Said one youngling: “I remember when Jason had short hair!”

Tradition

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

Someone once told me tradition is like an avocado green oven. He explained what he meant by that statement, but i’ve since forgotten. Perhaps it was something about being useful but easily dated.

Anyway,  today marked a return of another tradition of mine. Something i’ve been doing since my high school years. Namely, nightly ice cream. With the new budget in place it’s taken a while to save enough money to buy a pint of ice cream, but a well timed pizza party group meeting led to some free dinners the past week.

The inaugural flavor? Mint Oreo Cookie.

Mint. Oreo. Cookie. Does a brother have a finer friend?

Many a smile had tonight as i get ready to launch shit and lay claim to a small piece of the life i once had.
